A Day in the Life of... Nate Tomasi, VP Operations

// Name and location
Nate Tomasi, Kansas City, Missouri, USA

// What is your position?
VP Operations

// What’s the 1st thing you do each morning?
IMO, there are two types of people in the world: Those that shower in the morning, and crazy people. I like to get the day started by taking a shower and preparing for the day ahead.

// What does your office setup look like? What tools and software you cannot live without?
I’m an advocate of the Covey Quadrant method for time management, so I have that open at all times, two monitors (currently using Dell 24″ displays) connected to my Macbook Air and COFFEE of course.

// When did you join NoTraffic and why?
I joined in June 2021 because I am fascinated by the magnitude of problems we’re aiming to solve. I love using tech to solve problems, but ultimately I love to see our tech being used by our Partners.

// What’s the most mis-understood thing about your job?
I’ve been leading global operations for years, and in most places – Ops were perceived as ‘doers’, not as a strategic function. Operations has so many different aspects that I believe it becomes the most strategic part of any business. There’s an old saying that ‘Everyone is in Sales’; I like flipping that around and say it is everyone’s job in a company to create Raving Fans!

// Why would you recommend people to join you?
The problem set we’re solving; Great culture and people to work with. AND the ability to create value in many different ways. My father once told me that if you hate what you do everyday, everything in life will be less. Don’t take a job because of money, title, or prestige, take a job because you can find passion in it.

// What’s your favorite hobby, how a typical weekend looks like?
Those are two different questions to me. My favorite hobbies are 3D printing and cycling. My weekends are typically filled with “Honey To-Do Lists” and playing with my kids – and I might at times, be able to incorporate the play time with my hobbies by printing out Hot Wheels race tracks for the kids.

// How do you spend your time commuting to work?
Podcasts or Audiobooks mostly, but sometimes I enjoy listening to some old school rap that I loved back in High school.
